Tesla has secured $30 billion in new lines of credit that it can use to expand the new products it is currently working on: Cybercab Robotaxi, Optimus Robot, and Tesla Semi.
The company announced Tuesday that Citibank had agreed to a $20 billion three-year delayed draw term loan facility. Wells Fargo also entered into an $8 billion five-year revolving credit facility and a $2 billion 364-day revolving credit facility.
Tesla said in a regulatory filing that it does not plan to avail these loan facilities this year. The company already expects to spend at least $25 billion in capital expenditures in 2026. Tesla ended the second quarter of this year with about $9 billion in debt and a cash (and investments) pile of more than $40 billion.
All three of these new products required new manufacturing lines. In the case of Semi and Optimus robots, the approach was taken to build a new dedicated factory.
